Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website. My name is Amanda Harman and I am a person-centred counsellor offering face-to-face sessions from my home in Seaford, East Sussex.
I am a person-centred counsellor which means I focus on actively listening and inviting you to notice and be curious about what comes up as you talk. Our work together is about you becoming more self-aware so that you can become empowered to make your own changes.
I decided to train as a counsellor so that I could provide support to those struggling in life. I believe that talking therapy really can make a difference.
I have a foundation degree in Person-Centred Counselling (FdSc), and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), and adhere to their code of ethics.
Counselling takes place in a safe space, where you can meet with someone who will listen with sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement. In the therapy space thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence.
Trouble with a relationship; anxiety or panic attacks; mood swings or depression - many people face difficulties in their everyday lives that can be hard to get on top of. Counselling gives us a set of tools we can use to help gain a better understanding of what’s causing these problems - and how you can move towards managing or resolving them.
Working together I can help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing, help you understand why you act or react to them the way you do, and see how you can start to make better, heathier choices moving forward.
People come to me for help a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through counselling:

I work from my counselling room at home, and see clients from Seaford, East Sussex, as well as the surrounding Eastbourne, Newhaven, Lewes and Brighton areas.
My sessions are at 9am, 10.15 am, and 11.30am in the morning. Afternoon sessions are at 1.30pm, 2.45pm and 4pm.
I charge £20 for the initial assessment which lasts up to 50 minutes. Once we have met and got to know each other, I want you to feel safe, comfortable and ready to work through in a committed way.
Sessions last 50 minutes and take place weekly at the same time. This cost is £40 per session, payable 24 hours in advance. Please email me to enquire.
Note that if you want to cancel an appointment I require 48 hours notice otherwise you will still need to pay for any missed sessions.
I accept payment by bank transfer.
